Pedestrian hit by train in Craighurst

A pedestrian was struck by a train and succumbed to their injuries in the early-morning hours.

Few details are available, but CTV has learned a train was blocking the roadway between Penetanguishene Road and Horseshoe Valley Road West in Craighurst at 3:54 a.m. Tuesday.

Police were on scene, indicating Highway 400 northbound and southbound ramps were closed, and asked travellers to avoid the area.

A source confirmed the walker’s death shortly before 8 a.m.

Roads were reopened at 8:30 a.m.
