OPP R.I.D.E. program in full swing
Since the Provincial Festive R.I.D.E kick off on November 21, Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have conducted 105 separate R.I.D.E. checks, and have stopped over 1,570 vehicles along with 44 snowmobiles, checking drivers for signs of impairment.
On Sunday, when police were running a R.I.D.E. check on Heritage Drive between King and William streets in Midland around 11:50 p.m., they observed an approaching vehicle veer off into a factory parking lot.

Police say the driver fled the scene by running through the factory building.
However, police were able to identify the rightful owner of the vehicle, which was towed from the parking lot to his home.
At approximately 1:28 a.m. Monday, police arrested the 25-year-old Midland man for a court order violation and possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused is currently in custody for a bail hearing and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
If you know or suspect a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 911. In doing so, you may save a life.
