Provincial police are investigating after a municipal law enforcement officer was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals.

Polie say the alleged incident happened Sunday around 2 a.m. on Fallview Circle in Southfields Village in Caledon.

“No one should face the risk of violence when they go to work,” stated Mayor Annette Groves.

The officer was taken to the hospital with what were deemed to be minor injuries.

“Please come forward if you have any information that helps OPP advance its investigation and charge those responsible,” the Caledon mayor added.

Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit.
