Midland hosts downtown Mural Festival
Midland may be Ontario's town richest in murals.
With more than 50 murals and pictures dotting the downtown, Midland decided to celebrate its natural claim to fame and throw a Mural Festival on Saturday.
“Midland has been a mural community for more than two decades, and we look forward to celebrating all the amazing art that our residents and visitors enjoy throughout town,” said Mayor Bill Gordon. “We are very excited to add two brand new murals to the collection we already have.”
Artists will create new artwork in Harbourside Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.

In addition to the two new murals, free make-and-take activities will be offered by the Midland Public Library, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, and Quest Art School + Gallery.
The festival also features live music, artists, artisan vendors, and food trucks.
Through a call for artists, the town selected mural artists to begin restoring some of the existing murals and, weather permitting, festival attendees can see an artist working on one of the downtown murals.
Residents and visitors can take a self-guided tour or sign up for a guided tour of more than 50 artworks along the waterfront and downtown.
