Police are still searching for a man wanted in connection with an assault at a home in Oro-Medonte on Thursday morning.

Ian Malcolm says it still hurts to talk. With more than two dozen stiches holding his cheek together, the 67-year- old only remembers a few things from Thursday’s violent attack.

“The minute I opened the door he jumped at the door and pushed it in. I recall pushing back.”

It was just before 8 a.m.; Malcolm was home with his wife and brother-in-law at his Oro-Medonte home on Barrie Terrace.

“Suddenly I blacked out so I assume I was hit and probably something big cause I was out for an hour,” added Malcolm.

Seconds after hitting the ground, Malcolm’s wife triggered a security alarm for some reason the attacker kept insisting he owned the house.

Neighbours tell CTV News they saw the suspect both before the attack and after. He was seen fleeing the area on foot heading west.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • Slight build in his late 20’s
  • Approximately 6’ with a narrow face and grey stubble
  • Wearing a grayish/blue toque and a mid-length jacket, possibly blue in colour
  • Appeared to have been in a somewhat confused or agitated state.

On Friday, police were back in the area scouring the street, nearby trails and neighbourhoods looking for any sign of the suspect.

One neighbour has told the Malcolm’s that an outdoor video surveillance camera caught the suspect on tape but police will not confirm if they have seen the tape.

Police say they are interested in speaking with the driver of a red coloured pickup truck that was in the Barrie Terrace area on Thursday morning between 7:45 and 8 a.m. Police think the driver may have valuable information that could assist with the investigation.

The OPP reminds residents to be aware of their personal safety at all times.
