A Barrie man won’t face charges after lying to police about being slashed early Wednesday morning.

The 25-year-old man said he was allegedly stabbed by another person outside a retail plaza on Big Bay Point Road around 9:20 a.m.

Police brought in their canine unit to search for the suspect from the information they got from the man.

But during the investigation police learned the man had lied and had cut himself.

He was taken to RVH and received stitches for his wound.

Police say the man will not be charged but were able to get the knife and continue to investigate.
