A 36-year-old man is facing several charges following an alleged break-in at a building in Barrie.

Police say when officers arrived the man was barricaded in an apartment unit on Mary Street, just south of Dunlop Street West, Monday morning. He was eventually taken into custody.

The building’s superintendent accused the man of no fixed address of threatening him. Police say no injuries were reported.

Police say it was later confirmed through the investigation that the accused had failed to comply with several probation orders dating back to March 2023.

They say they also confirmed he was responsible for a break-in at the same building on Sunday morning, which was caught on video surveillance.

The accused is charged with break and enter, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with court orders.

He was remanded into custody to await a bail hearing scheduled for Friday.
