Provincial police charged a motorist with being impaired after a collision in Orillia over the weekend.

Police say the heavily damaged car was located off the road in a grassy area on Old Barrie Road near Line 14 on Saturday evening.

They say no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Officers arrived and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was charged with impaired operation and faces a licence suspension, vehicle impoundment and a future court date to answer to the charges.

"OPP reminds drivers to drive sober," the service noted on social media regarding the incident.
