Police in Bradford West Gwillimbury have arrested a man in connection with the death of his wife.
South Simcoe Police was called to a home on Colborne Street near Holland Street on Saturday, at around 11:30 a.m.
According to investigators, a 49-year-old woman was found dead inside the home. The woman’s husband, a 55-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
"We’re still in the early preliminary stages of the investigation. We’re going to have a group of officer canvassing the neighbourhood tonight for additional information,” says acting Insp. Steve Wilson.
Officers are expected to remain on scene for the next 24 hours. Police say they are not yet releasing the cause of death or the names of those involved.
The accused will appear before a court on Sunday by video link.
This is the first homicide in Bradford this year. Earlier this month, it was revealed five people were charged with manslaughter after a man died from the injuries he received in a September assault.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
