New Tecumseth Firefighters are investigating the cause of an early morning fire at a restaurant in Beeton.
Emergency crews were called to the ‘Sushi Chef’ on Main Street just before 8 am after someone noticed smoke coming from the roof of the building.
Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to contain the fire to the restaurant.
"There is significant damage to the kitchen. There is some smoke damage to the entire restaurant. The rest of the strip plaza is unaffected,” says Simon Worley, New Tecumseth Deputy Fire Chief.
"We know that we had a fire in the kitchen area, and currently the origin and cause of the investigation is under investigation."
There was no one in the building at the time of the fire. There is no dollar value on the damage yet.
