One elderly man was left with life-threatening injuries after police say he was struck while riding his utility scooter in the Town of Georgina.

On Saturday, just past noon, officers responded to the area of Woodbine Avenue and Riveredge Drive after a man was allegedly knocked off his mobility scooter by a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigations Unit are now searching for witnesses after the incident.

Police say the victim was taken to a hospital with a life-threatening injury and remains in stable condition.

YRP confirmed the driver of the SUV stayed on scene and was not injured.

The investigation remains ongoing. Investigators say they are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.
