The City of Owen Sound has officially called off their significant weather event on Dec., 13.

The winterly weather brought in roughly 40 to 80 centimetres of snow across Grey County, with gusty winds up to 80 kilometres per hour.

On Thursday, the city declared a significant weather event with the region under a blizzard warning as lake-effect snow squalls covered the area.

All streets and sidewalks in Owen Sound were in a “state of repair,” according to the city’s website.

Students in central Ontario were faced with multiple snow days due to the substantial snow accumulation.

City staff spent multiple days clearing roads and sidewalks and would like to extend their gratitude to all residents for their cooperation during this most recent snowstorm.

With a hope of putting the significant weather event in the past, Environment Canada says a 40 percent chance of flurries are expected late into Sunday afternoon with more flurries expected to carry out into mid-December.
