Police have busted and charged two people in connection to a daytime theft at a legion in Gravenhurst.

On Wednesday, officials confirmed that two alleged thieves broke into the Royal Canadian Legion on Veterans Way. Police say the legion was open for business at the time.

Bracebridge OPP say that a collection of items were taken, including irreplaceable First World War and Second World War memorabilia, clothing and a wheelchair.

The incident was captured on video surveillance. Bracebridge OPP officers conducted an investigation into the alleged theft with help from the local community.

After investigating, officers charged two Gravenhurst residents, a 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, each with theft over $5,000.

The accused duo will appear before the courts in December.

Many of the stolen items have not yet been recovered and anyone with information on the whereabouts of these irreplaceable items is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
