Newmarket native, Connor McDavid will return to the ice for Hockey Night in Barrie.
McDavid, 18, was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2015 NHL entry draft.
It was announced Thursday McDavid will join hockey stars Shayne Corson, Darcy Tucker, Aaron Ekblad and Matt Beleskey on the ice for the 8th annual event.
The doors for HNIB will open at 6:00 p.m. on August 13th at the Barrie Molson Centre, with puck drop scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Money raised will go to support Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre, as well as the development of a Child and Youth Mental Health unit at RVH.
To date they’ve raised $1.4 million for cancer care and the children’s mental health unit at RVH.
