The City of Barrie wants to hear from residents and visitors about the possibility of adding another disc golf course.

Disc golf is a game where players throw a flying disc at a target, referred to as a basket, which acts similarly to a hole in golf. Also like golf, the game is played with 9 or 18 baskets on 'fairways,' and the game's object is to complete a course from beginning to end in the fewest disc throws.

In a media release on Monday, the City said its Sandy Hollow disc golf site on Ferndale Drive is the most-played course of its kind in Ontario.

Earlier this year, the council approved a motion to investigate the feasibility, needs and costs of developing a new nine-hole disc golf course near Park Place around Bayview Drive.

The City hopes for community members to complete a survey on its website by the August 30 deadline.

Once public consultation is complete, the City says it will present a staff report with the survey results to the Infrastructure and Community Investment Committee in October.
