Alleged stabbing in Owen Sound a case of mistaken identity, police say

Police in Owen Sound arrested a man accused of a stabbing in what the authorities call a case of mistaken identity.

According to police, the accused assaulted a man he believed had stolen from him, but police say he targeted the wrong guy.

They say the  victim walked into the police station with apparent wounds to his torso on Friday morning to report an assault.

Officers say they spotted the suspect less than an hour later riding a bicycle near where the alleged assault happened and took him into custody.

They say a knife was located during a search of the area.

The 31-year-old suspect faces criminal charges.

Police say the victim was treated and released from the hospital.
