A young mother who died in a crash in Innisfil in the spring caused the fatal collision, police say.

Natasha Smith, 33, lost her life in a May 11 crash on Yonge Street between Innisfil Beach Road and the 9th Line in Innisfil.

Police say Smith's vehicle crossed the centre line and crashed head-on into an oncoming car around 1:55 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It remains unclear if the cause of the fatal collision has been determined.

South Simcoe police say toxicology screening was done on everyone involved, and the other driver, a 32-year-old woman from Bradford, had consumed alcohol on the day of the crash. Police did not release her identity.

In a Wednesday release, authorities stated that even one drink "can impair your ability to drive safely."

They confirmed the Bradford woman was not at fault in the collision. She is, however, facing an impaired driving charge.

Smith leaves behind her husband and two young children. A GoFundMe campaign launched after the fatal collision raised $23,030 for the woman's family, well above its $10,000 goal.
