A section of Grove Street in Barrie's east end will be closed for several weeks as part of the City's ongoing road work.

Starting Monday, Grove Street will be closed between Duckworth Street and Cook Street for roughly three weeks as part of the Duckworth Street Improvements and Grove Street East Watermain project.

While the road will be completely blocked off to through traffic, local residents and emergency services will still be able to access the area.

For those needing to travel around the closure, detour routes have been set up.

Drivers can use Cook Street, Steel/Wellington Street, and St. Vincent Street to navigate around the construction.

The closure will also affect Barrie Transit's Route 7A, with buses following a detour route during this period.

This project is one of several happening across the city aimed at improving roadways and infrastructure.
