Police investigate firearm discharge in Orillia

Provincial police are appealing to the public for help with a weapons investigation after receiving a call about a firearm being discharged in Orillia.

Police say officers were dispatched to Barrie Road near Dunlop Street around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate.

"The Orillia Detachment Crime Unit has been engaged and is continuing the investigation with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit," the OPP stated in a release.

Police encourage anyone who saw or has information about the incident to contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477.
