The search continues for the suspect in Barrie’s third homicide of the year.
Barrie police were back out on Wednesday, canvassing the neighbourhood around a Kozlov Street apartment building. Officers could be seen door knocking, while the forensics unit collected evidence.
“We've got a lot of doors to knock on and we're just hoping that you know any little bit that comes forward will help us out,” says Det. Const. Jason Marchildon.
Canvassing will continue on Wednesday night.
Fifty-year-old Dana Camber was found in her apartment early Tuesday morning, unresponsive and suffering from a serious wound. She was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Police haven’t released much in the way of information on the person they are looking for, only saying the suspect and Camber knew each other.
“Investigators are also actively investigating several persons of interest relating to this occurrence,” says Barrie police Const. Sarah Bamford.
Police say they were initially called to the apartment for a reported shooting, but wouldn’t comment on Tuesday if Camber had been shot.
An autopsy was scheduled to take place this morning, but investigators won't have the results until Thursday.
Camber was a mother and grandmother. She is being remembered by her family as a good woman, who cared for her loved ones.
