Provincial police remind motorists about the importance of buckling up after an officer discovered a passenger sitting on a kitchen chair inside the vehicle during a traffic stop in the Town of the Blue Mountains.

An officer with the Collingwood OPP detachment pulled over a van on Friday morning on Grey Road 19 and made the unusual discovery.

Police say the wooden chair was wedged between the two front seats.

The driver was charged with passenger failing to wear a seatbelt.

Provincial police are out in full force this holiday long weekend, keeping an eye out for poor and careless actions and behaviours on the roads.

Police say seatbelt non-compliance, among other factors, has led to preventable loss of life so far this year.
