OPP canvassing Meaford neighbourhood after reports of gunshots
Police officers will be canvasing a neighbourhood in Meaford on Thursday, asking residents to check video surveillance footage following two calls in one week about possible gunshots.
Provincial police say they first received a call about four to five gunshots heard near the Victoria Village area on Victoria Street around 12:35 p.m. on Aug. 27.
This week, on Wednesday, police received another call about several gunshots heard from a bush area, again near the Victoria Village area.
The situation prompted a hold and secure at a local school and a request for residents to remain in their residences. Both security measures were later lifted.
Police set up containment areas following both calls but said no persons or evidence was found during a search of the area.
They say no injuries have been reported.
