Environment Canada says more snow is on the way courtesy of a Colorado low that will push into the region on Friday night and continue into Saturday.

The weather agency expects the system to drop 15 to 20 centimetres.

Environment Canada warns the snowfall snow is expected to cause deteriorating winter travel conditions overnight into Saturday.

A special weather statement is in effect for:

·         Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale

·         Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake

·         Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

·         Innisfil - New Tecumseth – Angus

·         Orangeville - Grand Valley - Southern Dufferin County

·         Shelburne - Mansfield - Northern Dufferin County

·         Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County

·         Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region

·         Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region

While the snow has tapered off to light and intermittent, some patchy freezing drizzle or ice pellets are likely today in many areas. It is expected to change back to snow at night as colder air returns.

Snowfall is expected to stop sometime Saturday night.

Poor driving conditions are possible though until Sunday morning, as roads may become icy due to the mix of precipitation types. Environment Canada warns motorists to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
