Police say the officer was headed to a service call around 2:45 p.m. in a fully-marked OPP cruiser when the collision happened with a civilian vehicle at the intersection of Peel Street and Hume Street.

Both the officer and the driver of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Both have since been released.

The intersection was closed until around 10 p.m. for the investigation.
