Starting in February, GO transit could be 5% more expensive.
The agency that manages transit in the GTA and Hamilton, Metrolinx, asked for the fee increase.
Depending on the transit trip, a single fare could increase by between 10 and 50 cents.
The discounts offered to Presto customers, students, and seniors would not change.
Metrolinx says the increase is not unusual, and that the extra money would go to service improvements.
The price hikes will be voted on later this week.
