A fully-engulfed fire destroyed a garage in Collingwood.

“The fire was confined to the garage, which is a total loss,” said Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Emo of the Collingwood Fire Department.

The call came to the fire station at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, he said.

The garage was attached to a home on Niagara Street, which was also damaged by smoke and water.

“One resident was assessed by paramedics at the scene but refused transport to the hospital,” said Emo.

Emo said the cause of the fire is not known at this time.
