A Springwater Township man is preparing to auction off some of his collection of Ford vehicles.

Fred Lewis lives on George Johnston Road and he loves Ford’s – be it a tractor, truck or even a mailbox.

The 91-year-old is a former Ford dealer and after 50 years of collecting, he needs to scale back. Lewis is planning to auction off about 30 tractors, trucks and other farm equipment.

“Believe it or not all the old rusty stuff looks like scrap – somebody’s looking for most of those parts,” says Lewis.

He says it’s tough to part with some things including his favourite a 1962 Ford Tractor. Fred helped the Ford Company with the prototype testing the year before.

“I hope that goes to a good home!”

But Fred isn’t getting rid of everything – he’s hanging on to one special tractor.

“I do have 1922 tractor, the same age as me, but it’s going in the next sale…20 years from now.”

Fred’s auction takes place on Monday, September 2nd at the corner of George Johnston and Seadon Road starting at 10 a.m.
