A fire ban has been issued for the West Parry Sound region.
In a release, West Parry Sound Fire Coordinator Brian Leduc says the area has not been receiving the rainfall that has occurred south of the Severn River.
As a result, all fire permits are cancelled and the only open fires being allowed are camp fire for cooking.
The municipalities under ban include: Township of the Archipelago, Britt and Area Fire District, Township Carling, Township of Magnetawan, Municipality of McDougall, Township of McKellar, Township of Seguin, and the Township of Whitestone (extreme rating and complete fire ban).
Officials say significant rainfall over a wide area will be required for the fire danger rating to be lowered.
