Police in Muskoka are investigating a deadly single-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday morning.

Provincial police say a woman was driving on Highway 117 when her vehicle struck a hydro pole at Brunel Road in Baysville sometime before 9:30 a.m. The vehicle appears to have come to a stop propped up on its front end between a tree and large rock.

Police say the driver, an 83-year-old woman from Huntsville, was the only occupant in the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s unclear what caused her to leave the roadway. Police say the conditions were clear at the time of the collision.
