Investigators say a family dog has died, after a house fire in Shanty Bay on Sunday night.
Oro-Medonte firefighters were called to the house on Ridge Road West, at around 8 p.m., after a neighbour noticed smoke billowing from the building.
Fire chief Hugh Murray says it was a stubborn fire, taking several hours to extinguish. Firefighters were called back to the scene on Monday morning after the fire flared up.
No one was home at the time, but Murray says the homeowner’s dog died in the fire.
Investigators say the cause remains undetermined, but damage is estimated at $350,000.
