A Meaford man "will be walking for the next 30 days," police said after an officer pulled a vehicle over for allegedly speeding more than 100 kilometres per hour over the posted limit.

Provincial police said the officer clocked the vehicle travelling 186 kilometres per hour in the posted 80 zone along Airport Road in the Town of Mono on Tuesday.

"I was running late for work - this is not an excuse," provincial police posted to social media regarding the incident.

The 33-year-old accused faces a stunt driving charge, which also carries a roadside vehicle tow to an impound yard, where it will remain for 14 days at the owner's expense.

Provincial police officers reportedly laid over 2,000 charges over Labour Day weekend for driving violations, with speeding making up nearly half of those.
