MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Ontario's police watchdog says a former officer currently serving a jail sentence on a sexual assault conviction is facing new charges.

Young Min Von Seefried was an officer with York Regional Police when he was accused of sexually assaulting someone during a traffic stop in 2015.

He was convicted and sentenced to 16 months in jail in that case, as well as terminated from the force.

The Special Investigations Unit says it received fresh sexual assault allegations against Von Seefried from a 26-year-old woman relating to incidents believed to have taken place between August and December 2014.

The former officer was charged on Thursday with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of breach of trust by a public officer, and is due to appear in court next month.

The SIU is an arms-length agency that investigates incidents involving police in which someone is killed, injured or accused of sexual assault.
