Coldest temperatures in years to be felt this week

This week, we’ll see the coldest temperatures we’ve seen in years, according to Environment Canada.

Sunday sees close to average conditions for this time of year, with cloudy skies and a chance of flurries and a high of minus 6 degrees. However, it will feel like minus 15 with the wind chill.

The drop in temperature begins overnight with a low of 14 degrees, feeling like minus 24.

On Monday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a few flurries in the afternoon. It’ll get colder as Monday progresses, with temperature falling to minus 15 in the afternoon, feeling like minus 26.

Similar conditions are expected Tuesday with a high of minus 14.

The deep freeze starts to ease Thursday, with a forecast high of minus 7.

Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h this morning. High minus 6. Wind chill near minus 15.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. Wind west 20 km/h. Low minus 15. Wind chill minus 14 this evening and minus 24 overnight.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries. Wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50. High minus 12 with temperature falling to minus 15 in the afternoon. Wind chill near minus 26.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 14.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 15.

Thursday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 7.

Friday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of flurries. High minus 5.
