Unique cow cuddling experience draws visitors to farm in Caledon

A first-of-its-kind cow and bull sanctuary welcomes guests of all ages to destress with a unique experience - cow cuddling.

"Honestly, it's great. There's nothing like being around them. Especially after you're stressed out or if you're sad about anything," said Monisha Salwan, with GIR Farms in Caledon. "You can't help but laugh when you're around them."

The farm on Mount Pleasant Road is open to the public.

"I think a lot of people were just looking for a place to go and destress and relax out of the city, and we saw more and more people," said owner Monica Salwan.

As the farm's signature experience, cow cuddling aims to foster a sense of calm and well-being.

"They [visitors] just come in and want to get a nice big hug with the cows and they leave in such a good, joyful mood. And that's what really keeps us going and keeps us motivated in doing this," Monica added.

GIR Farms is the first official Gaushala, or Indian shelter, for homeless or unwanted cattle.
