Two men were recused from a burning house in Collingwood early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m.  at a home on Saint Peter Street.

There was five inside the house at the time and three managed to escape. Firefighters had to rescue two men, 49 years-old and 67 years-old, who were unable to escape the flames.

One man suffered burns and was airlifted to Sunnybrooke Hospital in Toronto. The other man was taken to RVH in Barrie to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials say the home had working smoke alarms, but no one is currently being allowed back in because of the extensive damage.

The OPP and Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are  investigating the cause of the fire.
