Barrie Police have arrested 20 people and have laid more than 150 charges after a five week, undercover downtown drug sweep.

The five week operation took place from July 4th to August 7th and involved police officers from the service’s High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT).

Barrie Police’s tactical support unit executed two high risk search warrants on Rose Street and Scott Crescent and high risk vehicle stop in the Letitia Heights area.

Police arrested 20 people, all from Barrie, which are facing 156 charges - including 113 that are drug related. The ages of the people arrested ranged from 27 to 65 years old. Police are still searching for two more men.

There were several drugs seized during the project including cocaine, Oxycodone, and marijuana.

Police also seized two vehicles that are alleged to have been used to sell drugs.
