Trucker faces impaired driving charges

A motorist called police about an erratic truck driver.
After noticing how strangely a commercial vehicle was being a driven in the area of King Street and Dixie Road, a driver called the Caledon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m.
When police located the truck, police determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.
A 49-year-old Brampton man was charged with impaired driving offences, as well as failing to stop for police and driving a commercial vehicle in contravention of conditions.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 14 to answer to the charges. His driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the truck was impounded for seven days.
Police reiterate under Ontario's zero-tolerance law for young, novice and commercial drivers, a driver cannot have any alcohol in their system if they are:
- age 21 or under
- a driver of any age who holds a G1, G2, M1, or M2 licence
- driving a vehicle that requires an A-F driver's licence or Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR)
- driving a road-building machine
