An early morning tractor trailer fire in Orillia closed down Highway 11in both directions for several hours.

It happened shortly after 2 a.m. near Coldwater Road.

Orillia Fire Chief Ralph Dominielli tells CTV News the truck was carrying automotive and industrial batteries when it caught fire. Crews were able to put the fire out and there is no word on any injuries.

The truck will remain on the highway for most of Sunday as crews unload all the batteries from the trailer.

The Northbound lanes of Highway 11 reopened just after 9:30 a.m. and one southbound lane opened just after 10:15 a.m. The other southbound still remains closed.
