A 50-year-old police officer from the Thunder Bay Police Service has died after collapsing during a training exercise near Gravenhurst on Wednesday morning.
It happened on Loon Lake Road around 10:45 a.m. when Constable Joseph Prevett was taking part in the course with the OPP along with his new police service dog Timber.
The officer collapsed and was rushed to hospital in medical distress. He died a short time later.
Constable Prevett began his policing career in 1998 with Peel Regional Police. He became a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service in 2003. He leaves behind a wife and family behind.
