Swords, cleavers and knives found in Alliston drug bust: OPP

An ongoing drug trafficking investigation led police to a cache of weapons and drugs in Alliston.

Earlier this year, Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a man selling drugs in the downtown area.

With a search warrant in hand, police say they saw a second suspect conducting a drug transaction in Tottenham. He was arrested at the side of the road by OPP, and then police executed the search warrant at a Knight Street location in Alliston shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

After a search of the residence, along with three vehicles, police allegedly seized around two ounces of cocaine, four imitation handguns, an imitation rifle, a prohibited knife, 12 knives, five sword/axe/cleavers, two cell phones, scales, brass knuckles, body armour carrier, two stolen sets of headphones, and a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a value of $30,000.

A 36-year-old Adjala-Tosorontio man was charged with:

• Trafficking in cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
• Four counts of possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Possession of a prohibited device
• Breach of recognizance

A 38-year-old Alliston man was charged with:

• Trafficking in cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Carrying concealed weapon
• Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Four counts of possession of imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Possession of a prohibited device
• Breach of recognizance
• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

A 35-year-old Alliston woman was charged with:

• Trafficking cocaine
• Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
• Four counts of possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Possession of a prohibited device
• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The men were held for a bail hearing appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 12.

The woman was released on an undertaking and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 9.
