A ‘Name-a-Plow’ auction was launched in New Tecumseth, where locals can name snowplows in support of 'Support and Hope for Individuals and Families Today' (S.H.I.F.T.).

The auction offers a chance to submit a bid and name for one (or more) of seven New Tecumseth plows with creative names.

S.H.I.F.T. referenced names such as ‘Flurry Potter,’ ‘Sir Plows-a-Lot,’ ‘The Snowminator,’ and ‘Chill Factor’ in a media release. Winning names will be labelled on New Tecumseth’s snowplows.

S.H.I.F.T. staff say the funds raised will help them with their winter programming for youth, adults and families experiencing homelessness or food insecurity in South Simcoe. They offer programs such as overnight shelters, daytime drop-in services and outreach services.

Those interested in supporting the cause can submit bids and name suggestions through the S.H.I.F.T. For Good website.

The auction ends at 5 p.m. on November 30.
