Dozens of trees were uprooted, many people are without power, and the clean-up could take days north of Port Severn near Six Mile Lake.

“When I got back yesterday, my neighbour phoned and said 'I got a few trees down'”  says Paul Delkus. “I never imaged it was like this…we'll be cleaning up for a week... easy.”

Residents suspect they were hit by a tornado.

“You could see it coming through the open water and I knew then. I said to Marty ‘lock up the house and go to the garage’. We had about 5 minutes and then it hit” says Michael O’Reilly.

Environment Canada scientists are in the area surveying the damage to determine how strong the winds were and if it was a tornado.

Meanwhile, Hydro crews have been busy repairing lines and transformers to restore power to the area.

Ontario Provincial Police say there were no injuries in the area.
