Stevenson Memorial Hospital will launch an internal investigation after one of their employees was charged in a child porn probe.

Jared Connor Nolan, 34, was arrested on Wednesday by the OPP as part of a lengthy child porn investigation.

Police allege Nolan, who works in the communications department at the hospital, used his position to gain the contact information of his victim. The OPP says the victim was a 16-year-old girl.

“The hospital had no knowledge of the allegations or that the OPP was conducting a criminal investigation until learning of Mr. Nolan’s arrest,” official said in a statement posted Friday on the hospital’s website.

Police launched the investigation after being contacted by the girl’s parents in September. The complaint accused Nolan of having sexual conversations with the teen online.

Nolan has been charged with transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under 18, distribution of child porn, possession of child porn and three counts of internet luring.

Eleven computers and an external storage device were seized from Nolan’s home and  his Alliston office.

Hospital officials say they are launching an internal investigation and are taking steps “to ensure the security and safety of the workplace.”

“We are very concerned about these allegations and the potential impact on patients, staff and this community.  We will be monitoring the situation closely.”

Nolan will remain in custody through the weekend. His bail hearing is set to be heard on Monday.
