South American equestrian teams are getting use to the region after travelling almost 10,000 kilometers to compete in the 2015 Pan Am Games.
The Argentinian team arrived a month early to train at Woodwind Farm in Oro-Medonte, but not to adjust to the weather. They're receiving a lesson in geography.
“The only thing we have to practice is the hills. They go down and up because in our country it's all flat. They don't have hills,” says Javier Rawson, an Argentinian equestrian team member.
This is the first time many riders and their horses have ever ridden on hilly courses and the international horses have spent the last week quarantined.
“There's rules and regulations that going from country to country you just want to make sure everyone is healthy and safe,” says Erin Paterson of Woodwind Farm.
The South American athletes have about two weeks left to prepare for their Pan Am Games competition in Caledon, but they all say they've enjoyed themselves so much at Woodwind that they'll be back.
