'Something wicked this way comes': twice

While twisting Ray Bradbury's quote may be a cheap shot, it aptly describes the double whammy of weather we're expecting over the next 48 hours.

Environmental Canada issued two weather alerts for central Ontario Wednesday morning.

The first is a Fog Advisory advising motorists to expect thick, dense fog at times.

The national weather agency warns of sudden “near zero visibility” around central Ontario until the fog dissipates later this morning.

Which brings us to the second advisory: a Snow Squall Watch is expected to begin Wednesday night.

Barrie could see snowfall accumulation of between 20 to 60 centimetres with additional snowfall on Friday.

Peak snowfall rates of four-to-eight centimetres per hour could cause significantly reduced visibility.

Areas under the squall watch include:

Barrie, Collingwood, Hillsdale, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Hanover, Dundalk, Southern Grey County, Huntsville, Baysville, Innisfil, New Tecumseth, Angus, Midland, Coldwater, Orr Lake, Newmarket, Georgina, Northern York Region, Orangeville, Grand Valley, Southern Dufferin County, Orillia, Lagoon City, Washago, Owen Sound, Blue Mountains, Northern Grey County and Parry Sound.
