BARRIE -- As any Canadian knows, snow shovelling is a taxing job, often with a physical toll.

For seniors, in particular, it can be tough.

A new online tool connects volunteers with people who need snow shovelling services in Barrie, particularly seniors.

"Snow Angels Canada is a newly arrived platform in the city of Barrie. It's built to connect volunteers with those who need snow removal from the city," said Sonya Favretto, City of Barrie.

Barrie resident June Everton admits snow is a challenging obstacle for herself and other seniors who could benefit from the program. "The snow in the winter really keeps them [seniors] indoors. For some, it's really hard to get someone to come to their driveway."

The city needs volunteers to help with the program that launched this week.
