The province’s police watchdog is continuing to investigating a death at a Midland park.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, Midland police spoke with a suspect over the phone on Wednesday, at around 5 p.m. Shortly after, police received a distress call.

An hour later, the SIU says the body of a 45-year-old man was found at Pete Petterson Park. The circumstances surrounding the death are now the focus of the investigation.

One officer is being investigated as part of the probe.

Four investigators and two forensic officers have been assigned to the incident.

The SIU is called in to investigate reports of deaths, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault that involve police.
