The crown attorney is asking for a ten-year prison sentence for one of the men convicted in the death of a Midland Native leader.

Paul McClung, 29, was convicted of manslaughter in May and in sentencing submissions on Wednesday court heard that McClung encouraged the other suspect, Jessy Herlichka, to continue brutally Andre Mixemong and even cheered him on.

The crown showed video on Wednesday of McClung taken shortly after his arrest, showing him kicking the cell bars at the Midland Police station.

McClung’s lawyer is arguing that he’s already served three years in jail and should not serve any more.

Both McClung and Herlichka will be sentenced next week.
