Share

One man died of his injuries after police say he "became separated" from his electric kick scooter onto the road and was struck by an oncoming motorcycle in Innisfil.

Officers were called to Sideroad 5 near Line 9 around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

They say a 41-year-old man from Barrie was riding a scooter when he ended up on the roadway and was hit by the northbound motorcycle.

Paramedics rushed him to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where police say he succumbed to his injuries.

The 82-year-old motorcyclist, also from Barrie, was treated at the scene. Police say he is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Police say they are looking into whether the rider fell from the scooter or exactly what caused him to end up on the road.

South Simcoe police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the scooter before the collision, or who saw the crash to contact the investigating officer at 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311.
