This time next week, Princess Anne will be in the City of Barrie for the city’s first royal visit in a long time.

The princess is expected to arrive in the afternoon, and will take part in a special ceremony at the Southshore Community Centre with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters. This visit is the royal's first visit as colonel-in-chief of the local regiment.

The city has been busy getting ready for this special occasion. Teams from the Grey and Simcoe Foresters, CFB Borden and the city have been preparing for this for months.

“And it's a very fine level of detail,” says Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman. “There are lot of things that are important to get right and we want it all to go off smoothly.”

After her visit in Barrie Tuesday night, Princess Anne will visit Base Borden on Wednesday.
